6 Week Beginner Hatha Yoga Course – Foundations for Growth

This is for anyone that would like to try Yoga but would like to learn the basics on a more personal level before diamond-goodembarking upon a mixed group class. Also, open to more experienced practicioners who would like to revise and re-root in their practice.

This six-week course will introduce beginners to the basic principles of yoga from a philosophical point of view, referencing seminal yogic text THE YOGA SUTRAS OF PATANJALI. It will also give you grounding in some of the key yoga postures and help you to understand alignment, benefits and contraindications. We will look at breathing practices (Pranayama) and discover their numerous benefits. You will explore how meditation can help you to connect deeply with the breath and calm the mood, enhancing your yoga practice.

Yoga Student Profile – Azu

This is Azu….When I first met Azu, she was experiencing a lot of stress and her friend Katie brought her to Yoga.  Azu hasn’t looked back…knowing that the practice of Yoga will always keep her centred and balanced.  Azu’s commitment to her Yoga practice has really shone though, she practices twice a week and has increasingly improved on many levels.  I notice when Azu comes to Yoga, she is 100% present and is totally immersed in the practice.

Me llamo Azucena soy española, me encantan los deportes y a poder ser al aire libre, o cerca de la naturaleza. Soy una persona nerviosa y siempre estoy estresada por el tiempo y la rutina en la que vivimos pero siempre estoy dispuesta para experimentar nuevas experiencias.chaturanga
Estaba pasando por una mala racha, donde lo veía todo a mi alrededor muy negativo, estaba metida en un pozo sin salida, pero fue justo entonces cuando una gran amiga, mirando mucho por mi, me cogió prácticamente de la oreja y me llevó hasta una clase de yoga. Yo le había escuchado decir que me quitaría mala energía, pero yo en cambio, encontré mucho más que eso, desde aquél día, comencé a practicarlo, y de poco a más descubrí, que pase lo que pase, puedes encontrar paz en ti mismo, y que siempre puedes esforzarte por tranquilizarte, relajarte y encontrar lo mejor en ti.

Empecé a asistir a las clases por las buenas vibraciones y el bienestar que generaban en mi, todo esto me orientaba a conseguir un equilibrio físico y mental que me hacía sentir muy bien. Descubrí también, que cuando haces yoga te envuelves de energía, la desprendes y la absorbes mientras todo fluye de un modo muy sutil, prácticamente sin que te des cuenta.happyLa practica de yoga me ha ayudado en gran medida, a saber reaccionar ante las situaciones mas extremas a las que podamos someternos, y a sobrellevar el estress por nuestro tan agitado dia a dia, , me ha enseñado a pensar, a concentrarme y a recapacitar antes de actuar, para verlo todo desde una perspectiva mas tranquila y positiva.

This is Louise…..Louise spends her working day caring for animals at her cat and dog hotel in southern Spain, but still finds time to come to class regularly.  Her commitment to the practice of Yoga, really shines through, constantly improving and always presents a happy and positive outlook on life.

Why I started Yoga and how it benefits me.

“Well, suddenly I realized that the big 60 was fast approaching.  After a fairly active life, my body was starting to let me down.  I couldn`t touch my toes, far less, walk up a hill without gasping, flabby bat wing arms, saggy tummy.  My doctor was wanting to discuss emphysema treatments, cholesterol pills and the the like.   Then, two large operations within a month, really took my mojo away completely. Life was looking grim!  A helpful friend suggested that I come along to a Yoga session with Kirsty. First time for everything I thought. First the breathing, such deep body breaths, re-oxygenating my whole system. Bliss for someone who has shallow breathed for years!

down dogThen the slow buildup of muscles and tendons, that had been long forgotten, with carefully induced stretches, over time, this has all improved my general fitness and zest for life.  Now I don´t walk up hills, I run!  Where there is a challenge, I take it!

Kirsty has a way of understanding what her class needs. Be they novices or experienced Yogis, there is something for everyone, and you can take with you as much or as little as you like.

The meditation at the end of the session is something thatbalasana I have grown to love, and I practice everyday now.  The increase in personal confidence and self-acceptance is awesome, and hopefully, will last me for the rest of my life. So more bats wings, no more doctors, life is good!

Yin Yoga Flow Workshop

Indulge yourself!
 
This Master Class Yoga workshop begins with one hour of Dynamic Yoga Flow, linking posture to breath. Where we will create energy, warmth and flexibility into the body and mind….preparing ourselves for the Yin Yoga practice.
 
A short break of tea/water and a light snack – fruit, nuts etc.dragon pose
 
In the second part of the workshop, we will start to sink into the deep stretching experience of Yin Yoga. Here we will be spending from 1 – 3 minutes in each posture, allowing the body to open and deep healing and relaxation to take place. Postures will also have the option of being supported to enable the maximum restorative healing benefits of the Yin Yoga practice.
 
Finishing with deep relaxation, (optional supported) and closing meditation.
 
We will be experiencing all of this in a beautiful straw bale house set in the natural surroundings of the Andalucian countryside.
 
This workshop is open to beginners and seasoned yogis of all levels.

Yoga & Meditation Retreat in Sicily

We are holding a Relaxation, Rejuvenation and Revitalising Yoga, Meditation and Self-Development Retreat in Sicily. With breathtaking views, the location is set in the beautiful mountains above the rural village of Motta Camastra made famous in the movie “The Godfather” as being passed off as Corleone.yoga

We only have a maximum space for 18 people left, so sign up early. All bookings need to be made with a 50% deposit before the 31st March to guarantee your place.

All rooms are based on two people sharing. All food is fresh, local, organic and vegetarian. All retreat activities and meals will be taken at the main retreat house where there is accomodation for 10 people. For the rest, accomodation is provided in traditional rural houses in the village of Motta Camastra.

The retreat is based on Buddhist principles of: No intoxicants (including alcohol) until the last night of the retreat. No drugs and no killing of any animal, insect or bug. We ask you to please respect the environment you will be in and the other guests in the group retreat. The main retreat house has various animals on the land, we ask you to please respect them.

You are responsible for providing your own flight to Catania airport. However, pick up time at the airport will be 16:00hrs on the 7th May. Ryan Air have a flight from Malaga to Roma Fiumicino and from Roma Fiumicino to Catania for about 150€ return. Book early before the price goes up. We recommend we all get the same flight together if you’re coming from Malaga. Please ask for more information.
